Se pensate che scegliere un fumetto sia solo questione di gusti, sappiate che a Villa Ciani in questi giorni la faccenda è molto più seria (ma anche un po’ spassosa). Il Comitato di Selezione del Grand Prix Città di Lugano 2026 ha iniziato il suo lavoro: tavoli ricoperti di albi, file digitali che scorrono sugli schermi e discussioni animate su ballon, vignette e tratteggi. Un dietro le quinte che sembra uscito da una storia corale… a fumetti.
L’obiettivo? Individuare i 25 Cygne d’Argent, ossia i titoli più significativi pubblicati tra il 1° luglio 2024 e il 30 giugno 2025. Non importa se si tratta di graphic novel, serie, miniserie o opere autoconclusive: ciò che conta è la qualità artistica e narrativa.
E qui entra in gioco la parte tecnica: il comitato valuta con attenzione sceneggiatura, disegno, colore, originalità e coerenza dell’opera. Ogni titolo selezionato non solo riceve il riconoscimento del Cygne d’Argent, ma diventa protagonista di una mostra collettiva al festival e accede automaticamente alla corsa per i Cygne d’Or, i premi principali da 2.000 franchi ciascuno. Le categorie? Miglior Fumetto, Miglior Disegno, Miglior Sceneggiatura, Miglior Colore e Miglior Fumetto Svizzero.
Non mancano, ovviamente, i premi speciali: il Premio del Pubblico, votato dai visitatori dopo aver percorso l’esposizione; il Premio Innova, per chi sperimenta linguaggi innovativi; e il Grand Prix Spécial Città di Lugano, legato al tema annuale del Festival, che garantirà al vincitore una mostra personale nell’edizione successiva.
Il clima tra i selezionatori è serio ma mai troppo ingessato: c’è chi difende un tratto audace, chi si innamora di una sceneggiatura ben ritmata, chi non si lascia sfuggire la forza di una tavola a colori. Le discussioni si accendono, ma sempre con il sorriso: dopotutto, stiamo parlando di fumetti, e la passione è la vera bussola che guida le scelte.
La rosa dei finalisti sarà annunciata a metà ottobre 2025, in attesa della grande cerimonia di premiazione del 28 febbraio 2026, durante l’InnovaComix – Lugano International Comic Art Festival.
Insomma: i lavori sono in corso, i cigni stanno per prendere il volo e noi non vediamo l’ora di scoprire quali autori e autrici solcheranno le acque del lago di Lugano con le loro storie.

The 25 Swans Are Ready to Take Flight
If you think choosing a comic is just a matter of taste, think again. At Villa Ciani these days, things are much more serious (though with a playful twist). The Selection Committee of the Grand Prix Città di Lugano 2026 has officially begun its work: tables covered with albums, digital files flashing on screens, and heated debates about balloons, panels, and linework. It almost feels like stepping into a comic story itself.
The mission? To identify the 25 Cygne d’Argent—the most outstanding titles published between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. Graphic novels, series, miniseries, one-shots: every format is eligible, as long as it brings artistic and narrative excellence.
Here’s where the technical side comes in: the committee carefully evaluates writing, drawing, coloring, originality, and overall coherence. Each selected title not only receives the honor of the Cygne d’Argent, but will also be showcased in a collective exhibition at the festival and automatically compete for the Cygne d’Or, the main awards worth 2,000 CHF each. The categories? Best Comic Book, Best Drawing, Best Writing, Best Coloring, and Best Swiss Comic.
And of course, there are the special prizes: the Audience Award, voted by festival visitors after experiencing the exhibition; the Innova Award, celebrating creators who push the language of comics forward; and the Grand Prix Spécial Città di Lugano, tied to the annual theme, which grants the winner a solo exhibition at the following edition.
Inside the committee, the atmosphere is serious but never stiff. Some defend bold linework, others fall in love with a perfectly paced script, while others can’t resist the power of a striking color palette. Debates get lively, but always with a smile—after all, this is comics, and passion is the true compass guiding every choice.
The list of finalists will be announced in mid-October 2025, leading up to the awards ceremony on February 28, 2026, during the InnovaComix – Lugano International Comic Art Festival.
So yes: the work is in full swing, the swans are about to take flight, and we can’t wait to discover which authors and artists will glide across Lake Lugano with their stories.
